24 neue Songs mit Weird Cupboards?!

Nachdem Maximo Park im letzten Jahr mit ihrem Zweitwerk "Our Earthly Pleasures" und gefühlten 15 Singles wieder einmal ihre wuchtig-festzementierte Größe bewiesen haben, werkeln Paul Smith und Co nun an Songs zum dritten Album, welches Anfang 2009 erscheinen soll. Zwischen 20-24 Tracks seien bisher schon gedanklich auf dem besten Weg zur Vollendung, ein paar seien auch schon fertig, das berichten BBC 6 und Gigwise.

Paul Smith verriet, dass seine Jungs schwer am schuften sind und hier und da neue Wege beschreiten: "We've got a bit more room on the songs to play with and Lukas, our keyboard player, is starting to discover many more weird things he can do. We're gonna root around the percussion cupboard as well."

Den neuen Song "The Kids Are Sick Again" haben sie bereits auf dem V Festival vorgestellt und einige umjubelte Kommentare zum Song eingefahren. Und wie sich das für Maximo Park so gehört, gibt es natürlich auch eine Metaebene von "The Kids Are Sick Again" und die geht so: "I guess I thought society as a whole is bombarded by advertisements and to me that's why the kids are sick again. It's a funny sounding phrase but it's a serious song - so it's a nice blend of being amused, but [also] I hope people sit up and take notice of it." Drummer Tom English erklärt weiter: "They [the youth of today] can't express themselves anymore and this is for them."
