Neues Album: 'The Crying Light'

In einem Interview mit dem Magazin Harp hat sich Antony Hegarty nun erstmals umfassend zum anstehenden dritten Studioalbum von Antony & The Johnsons geäußert. 'The Crying Light', so der nun feststehende Titel, soll im kommenden Frühjahr über Secrety Canadian erscheinen. In dem Gespräch, das komplett auf seiner Website veröffentlicht wurde, erzählt Hegarty von 25 fertigen Songs, die größtenteils auf Gesang und Piano basierten. Das Album sei, so Hegarty, \\\\"a little more experimental structurally. But some of [the songs] are really normal... I'm hoping to weave things together so it will be a little more of a collage of songs.\\\\"

Thematisch verortet Hegarty den Nachfolger des 2003er Werks 'I Am A Bird Now' wie folgt: \\\\"It's about landscape and the future. I guess I'm thinking about those things a lot-- about the natural landscape of the world and the landscape inside each person. On my last record, everything was sort of sad and redemptive. And this one, it's more extreme in both directions. Some of the songs are much more joyful, and some of the songs are much less redemptive. And then some of the songs are more thoughtful-- more philosophical. I think this record is just about sitting with things.\\\\"

Das Harp-Magazin berichtet derweil von drei feststehenden Songtiteln, nämlich 'Her Eyes Underneath The Ground', 'Give My Name' und 'Everglade'. Zudem wird Hegarty an vier Songs des kommenden Albums der Brooklyn-Band Hercules And Love Affair beteiligt sein. Und Mit Duett-Partnerin Björk hat er gerade das neue Video ihrer 'Volta'-Kollaboration 'Dull Flame Of Desire' abgedreht. Last but not least: Für das im Januar bei uns startende Dylan-Biopic 'I'm Not There' bzw. dessen Soundtrack haben
Antony & The Johnsons zuletzt ja 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' beigesteuert. Das Album ist bereits bei Sony BMG erschienen.
