Alles zum neuen Album!

Mit den Arbeiten an ihrem dritten Album 'Made In The Dark' haben Hot Chip bereits begonnen, kurz nachdem sie den Vorgänger 'The Warning' in trockenen Tüchern hatten. Was für Pop gilt, gilt für die Briten im Besonderen: Weitermachen, keine Zeit für Stillstand. Dennoch soll sich das Album deutlich von den Vorgängern unterscheiden, wie Bandmitglied Alexis Taylor auf ihrem MySpace berichtet: \\\"I feel like it's doing things that we haven't done before, because we've recorded things in different ways. But also I feel like we've got more depth and more range on this record. There are ballads and full-on dance tracks and even heavy rock elements in some of the guitar playing. Obviously everything we've done as a band has been quite eclectic, but I just feel like this pushes things even for us.\\\"

'Made In The Dark' entstand größtenteils in den Strong Room Studios in London, die zuletzt Bands wie die Arctic Monkeys oder die Klaxons beherbergten. Dabei nahm die Band erstmals gemeinsam auch live auf. Teile des Albums enstanden dann wiederum in der Wohnung des Hot-Chip-Mitglieds Al Doyle, wie Taylor erzählt: \\\" It's quite lucky that Felix and Al took over a space in this ex-factory that Al lives in and turned that into a studio. So we've been able to record there without any costs.\\\"

Da die Ausgaben gleich null waren, war die Kreativität der Band umso beflügelter. Da stand anfangs sogar die Idee eines Doppelalbums im Raum: \\\"We'd recorded things in such different ways that we didn't know if the tracks we'd recorded as a whole band would be totally weird sounding next to records that me and Joe made in his bedroom. But I originally wanted it to be like a sprawling double album that was allowed to be fairly self-indulgent. We didn't go for a double in the end, but it's still got that feel to it. It changes pace and dynamics all the way through.\\\"

Die erste Single des Album wird 'Ready For The Floor' sein. Über das dazugehörige Video berichtet Taylor: \\\"We've just done the video for that. It's directed by Nima Nourizadeh, who did ›Over And Over‹ and a couple of other videos for us. That should be on 'YouTube' and TV in December or January. If you've seen the first Batman film that Tim Burton made, or any of the Prince videos related to that film, then you'll get some idea of the aesthetic.\\\"
