Neues Album wird orchestral

Die große Kanadawelle ist fast schon wieder ein bisschen abgeebbt. Ein Glück, dass sich jetzt die damaligen Protagonisten so langsam wieder zurückmelden: Über Arcade Fire hatten wir ja schon berichtet und mittlerweile haben auch Hot Hot Heat ihr neues Album so gut wie fertig. Zwei Jahre sind seit dem letzten, offiziell zweiten Full-Length 'Elevator' (Review hier) verstrichen, in einem Studio hat man in der Zwischenzeit 15 Co-Produzenten verschlissen. Beziehungsweise, nein, das war doch so gewollt. \\"We worked with about 15 different co-producers, which was really fun,\\" so Sänger Steve Bays. \\"I co-produced about 90 per-cent of the album, and each song was co-produced by a different person. It's almost like a hip-hop record in that sense.\\"

Das noch unbetitelte Album sei recht rockig ausgefallen. Was auf deutsch wie \\"amtlich\\" klingt, liest sich auf englisch so: \\"[The album] has a real rockin' feel [and is] pretty tripped out. There are a lot of keyboards, and some of it is like a combination of T-Rex and Led Zeppelin. It sounds more alive than anything we've done before.\\"

Nun kann man dem Vorgänger 'Elevator' ja nicht gerade vorwerfen, er sei dröge gewesen. Aber mit \\"alive\\" meint Bays augenscheinlich auch: orchestral, bombastisch. Im Sinne von: Chöre, Orchester, Symphonien. \\"We held a party for two of the songs that had about 40 of our friends singing on it. 'Happiness', the first song on the album, starts out small and pathetically sad, but it builds and builds and then explodes at the end. Kind of like Sgt. Pepper's on heroine, with 45 seconds of a choir at the end.\\" Ein weiterer Song, 'Outta Heart', komme sogar ganz konkret mit der Unterstützung eines ganzen Orchesters daher. Passend dazu sei das Oberthema des Albums \\"tödliche Romanzen\\": \\"It's about having your heart and will crushed, and struggling to hold on to optimism and innocence.\\" Im Mai soll es dann voraussichtlich soweit sein.
