Das nächste Spiel ist immer das schwerste, das kommende Album ist immer das beste. Es gibt wohl kaum Bereiche, die mehr Allgemeinplätze zu bieten haben als Fußball und Musik. Trotzdem hört man solche Floskeln immer wieder gerne, schließlich sind sie so etwas wie der Fels in der unruhigen News-Brandung. Schön zu beobachten außerdem, wie Brandon Flowers im Folgenden mit jedem Satz weiter an Bodenhaftung verliert. \"We just have to make the best album that we can. And we're doing it. This album is one of the best albums in the past 20 years. There's nothing that touches this album. And that sounds like I'm being cocky, but I'm just so excited\", so der The-Killers-Sänger im Interview mit mtv.com.

Und wenn man bedenkt, wie nahe das Debüt \"Hot Fuss\" dem perfekten Popalbum zumindest in der ersten Hälfte (um jetzt nicht zu sagen Halbzeit) kam, ist man fast geneigt, selbst ein bisschen aufgeregt zu werden.

Die bereits angekündigten amerikanischen Einflüsse des nächsten Albums der besten englischen Band aus Amerika sind übrigens immer noch ein Thema, allen voran des Frontmanns entflammte Liebe zu \"The Boss\" höchstpersönlich: \"I couldn't believe how happy his music made me and how good it was. He's a gift, and I didn't know. I mean, I knew 'Born in the USA' and 'Glory Days,' but I didn't know that he covered so much ground, and there was something in his music that touched what I was going through, the process of falling back in love with my America. Springsteen touches on the American dream, and that's everybody's dream. And it's such a great idea — whether or not it's still happening today. Most of the songs are about getting to that place, of making it to the promised land. I don't think it's about getting rich; it's the idea of working hard and having your castle in the sky. And that idea runs through the record. It's very optimistic.\" Auch wir blicken hoffnungsfroh in die Zukunft und freuen uns erst auf die Fußballweltmeisterschaft und im September dann auf besagtes Album.
