Stilistische Vielfalt zeichnete diese Frau schon immer aus, war ihre Stimme doch schon bei Songs von zum Beispiel Kings Of Convenience, Mocky, Jane Birkin und natürlich Broken Social Scene zu hören. Deshalb überrascht es nicht wirklich, dass sich Feist für die Produktion des Nachfolgers zu \\\\\\"Let It Die\\\\\\" unter anderem den Techno-Produzenten Jamie Lidell ausgekuckt hat, der im letzten Jahr mit seiner Funk-Platte \\\\\\"Multiply\\\\\\" einiges Aufsehen erregen konnte.

Doch wie weit sich die gebürtige Kanadierin damit vom Sound des Vorgängers entfernt, ist zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch unklar.

Die Sängerin selbst schildert gegenüber MTV den Unterscheid als nicht besonders groß: \\\\\\"I haven't deviated far from what Let It Die is at the core - simplicity - and I'm not quite done with that idea yet. You know how certain smells can trigger memories and you're not quite sure where they come from? I get that same sensation from writing songs, and I feel like Let It Die was the beginning of something important [that I need to keep exploring].\\\\\\"

Aufgenommen wurde wie schon beim Vorgänger in Paris. Ausgerechnet in der Stadt der Liebe also, was so gar nicht zu Leslie Feists damaliger Stimmung passen wollte. Immerhin hatte sie gerade eine schmerzhafte Trennung hinter sich gebracht, die auch auf dem Album thematisiert wurde: \\\\\\"The song 'Let It Die' shows [a relationship] cycle: the beginning and the ending, the bittersweetness. Because the saddest part of a broken heart isn't so much the ending as the start. What's really tragic about the end of a relationship isn't all the little reasons why you're breaking up but remembering what had been.\\\\\\" Hoffen wir, dass Feist auch ohne gebrochenes Herz zu Großem fähig ist.

    Die News ist nicht ganz richtig. die Feist Platte wird nicht einzig von Jamie Lidell produziert sondern - wie www.listentofeist.com meldet - vom Dreamteam Gonzales + Renaud Letang (wie bei let it Die"), Mocky und Jamie Lidell gemeinsam !!!

    @2005er: Du hast natürlich Recht. Aber mir ging es in erster Linie um die Information, dass Feist mit Jamie Lidell zusammenarbeitet. Habe die News jetzt so umformuliert, dass man sie nicht mehr missverstehen kann. Danke!

    ich hab beim notwist-konzert so'n remix von mush-a-boom gehört... klang wie'n console-remix... kennt den jemand? weiss jemand, wo der drauf ist?

    vom lidell und den kanadiern
    gesehen? wie hießen die doch
    gleich? hab es dezember nicht
    nach london zum konzert gepackt
    (falls das stattgefunden hat).

    Leslie Feist has finally crossed that line, entering an elite group of artists we like to call "The Remixed". Come April 17, EMI will release Open Season, an album of exclusive remixes, live recordings, and other previously Feist unreleased material... in Canada only. Damn.

    The disc includes that Postal Service "Mushaboom" remix currently available on iTunes, an acoustic BBC Session recording of "Inside & Out", "Tout Doucement" from the French version of Let It Die, a cover of Peaches' "Lovertits" by Feist and Peaches cohort Gonzales, and more. See for yrself:

Feist's website says, "More US touring is booked for March, but in the meantime, it's tea, notebooks, a piano and a parlour guitar." Mmm, how European.
