Neues Album im Spätsommer

Elbow befinden sich derzeit in Brixton, London, um im Studio der So Solid Crew den Nachfolger Ihres Debütalbums \"Asleep In Black\" einzuspielen. Das Album des Quartetts aus Lancashire soll im August veröffentlicht werden. Frontmann Guy Garvey sprach gegenüber dem Radiosender XFM über das neue Album und den großen Einfluß des Irakkriegs auf einige Songs: \"It's been a very weird situation to write under, everyone in the band has been very worried about the situation in the Middle East. There are about three songs on the album that are very politically motivated. I have lyrically tackled sticky political issues but only because that's what I've been thinking about while making this record. So there's quiet a lot of bitterness and resentment on the record that perhaps people won't be expecting\".
Garvey betonte in dem Interview jedoch, dass das Album nicht ausschließlich aus schwermütigen Songs bestehe: \"I was talking to my Mum about the prospect of having a second album stretching out before us and how we were very nervous and she just started singing 'What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love' - that old Cilla Black number - which inspired me.
