Was ist: FL Studio 7 (previously known as Fruity Loops) is an all in one software program that allows the user to create complete songs or loops samples that can be saved to WAV, MP3 or MIDI or ZIP or native project formats (FLP). Which means, you can export the loops to very well any sequencer program of your choice and use FL as a plugin with whatever host program. Example: Ableton Live or Logic etc. But that’s not all! It also comes compatible with industry standards VST/VSTi/VST2, DXi, DXi2, Buzz, ReWire. So essentially you have a full range to do whatever you want without any constraint on the users and their own imagination. Unfortunately it’s only available for PC users.

Handling: This new version of FL 7 comes equipped with 13 virtual synthesizers. FL 7 has sequencing functions as both a pattern and track based sequencer. In the past I would personally only use the pattern based function but from FL versions 5 and up it has improved dramatically with the track based function. I have no reason now not to use it from beginning to a complete finished track. As for mastering and editing FL 7 has one of the most powerful mixers which includes an industry leading 64 stereo track mixer. Each track can include up to eight effects and can also be routed to any of the other 64 tracks or one of four dedicated “send” channels.
Was bleibt: FL 7 is in my opinion the most essential music creating software out there in the market today. I know, I have been using it since its primitive beginnings when it was considered just a toy. Well, now it’s a huge resource of creative inspiration. The learning curve is set a little higher I would have to say but I highly recommend it to any wishful beginners out there ready to make a name for themselves. The pros already know about it and they have been keeping it a secret from you.
Glanzlicht: I would like to mention Sytrus. This is a powerful and versatile synthesizer featuring six customizable operators for FM and RM synthesis, plucked strings synthesis, 3 SVF (filter) & distortion modules, effects module with chorus effects and three delay lines & unique programmable unison mode. It has all the bells and whistles one can ever expect from a synth. All of this for a reasonably priced program. One can’t go wrong. Strongly recommended!
