Ende 2005 verloste Intro ein Hauskonzert mit der damals noch reichlich unbekannten Saddle-Creek-Band Two Gallants. Gewinnerin Josephine aus Hamburg schrieb darüber in Heft #135 eine Nachlese. Es ist an der Zeit, endlich auch mal die Band zu fragen: Wie fühlte sich das eigentlich an damals? So als verloste Party-Band? “We arrived in Hamburg in the early evening. We drove in circles through streets we couldn’t pronounce looking for a girl named Josephine’s house. All we knew was that she had won a show in her living room and we were the band. We were in the middle of a tour supporting The Decemberists at venues bigger than those we had ever played at home so for us, a house show was very a welcomed relief. Somehow we finally found Josephine’s house across the street from the fairground. As soon as we rang the doorbell a whole brigade of kids showed up at the door to help us bring our gear up to the flat which was conveniently located on the fifth floor of the building. Once we were situated they fed us beer and wine. Eventually we played. I think it was in her bedroom. Most of the fifteen or twenty people who were there watched from the hall either out of disgust or to spare their hearing. It wasn’t quite like the drunken sweaty mess of a house show that we were used to back in America but we hadn’t traveled six thousand miles hoping to find what we’d left behind. Josephine and her friends were all very kind to us and we still hang out every time we go back to Germany. Moral of the story: should you find yourself in Germany in the winter and fall be sure to bring your handshoes.” Danke, das merken wir uns.
